AIXM is the de facto standard for exchanging digital aeronautical information. We offer courses on AIXM 5.1.1, which is the latest version, and on AIXM 4.5, the old version from 2004 that is still in use by some AIS departments and by EAD.

Our AIXM 5 courses are practical, on-the-job training. If trainees have no access to an AIXM 5 database, we can provide one. Customers who have their own AIXM-based software can use it during the training to practice data encoding.

This introduction to AIXM 5.1 presents essential concepts in AIXM.

Training objectives:

  • Understand the objectives and scope of AIXM
  • Be able to help oneself with AIXM documentation and to seek additional help
  • Understand the structure of an AIXM 5 document
  • Understand the temporality model
  • Understand the most important parts of the model

This course covers the subset of AIXM 5.1.1 that is relevant to the production of Aeronautical Information Publications (AIP).

Training Objectives:

  • Be able to input AIXM 5.1 data for publication in standard AIP data tables
  • Understand the model for all AIXM feature types and properties relevant to the AIP
  • Be able to input multi-lingual text
  • Be able to input geographical data
  • Be aware of AIXM 5.1 data used in text sections of the AIP

This course covers the subset of AIXM 5.1.1 that is relevant to the production of aeronautical charts as defined in ICAO Annex 4.

Training Objectives:

  • Be able to input AIXM 5.1 data used in aeronautical charts
  • Understand the model for all AIXM feature types and properties relevant to charts
  • Be able to input geographical data, following AIXM 5.1 and GML rules
